The Donkey's Gift
By Peggy
It's the story of Joseph and Mary's journey to Bethlehem and their struggles as told by the donkey who has been purchased to carry Mary.
Its a warm and inviting book. Great read especially around the Christmas season. It's a family tradition at our house.

Fun for donkey lovers
By Clover
Maybe not a book for everyone, but if you are interested in donkeys, religion, children's books that can be enjoyed by adults or those that have a light philosophical and moral tone then you will enjoy this book very much. Oh, and you have also to be into anthropomorphism as well. This is a story of a naughty but very smart donkey who has no respect for humans and is out thinking them at every step. However, when he meets Joseph and Mary on their way to Bethlehem his attitude gradually changes and he finds out that all humans are not the same.
Donkeys do talk, not in English, but any donkey owner reading this will say their donkey has said many of the same things to them once they learn how to understand what a donkey is trying to let them know, good and bad comments.

Joseph and Mary as real people
By A Customer
I read this book in Reader's Digest condensed books also. I read it out loud to my children during December when they were little. It made the journey of Joseph and Mary a key part of the birth of Jesus. Loved it.
